i am such a tourist

but there's nothing really wrong with that, is there?(:

we took the subway to the Musée du Louvre and mom just would not stop taking pictures. in hindsight, i guess it was a good thing... but at that time it felt kind of silly and downright exhausting.

(these are all from mom's camera, because i forgot to charge mine before leaving. really, who does that?)

anyway...

the Louvre is everything i'd ever imagined it to be... and so much more. *sigh*

you're really not supposed to touch anything in the museum. but i was playing where's waldo the whole time and getting my hands on everything. very, very bad tourist.

after a tiring tour of the museum, it was time to eat. i nearly chipped my tooth after taking a bite out of the baguette! it was yummy though.(:

we then took the subway to the Notre Dame de Paris, and after this shot was taken, the camera's battery died. good times.

outfit details:

ruffled blouse - thrifted
skirt - thrifted
bowtie - thrifted
bag - thrifted
little boy's blazer - vintage; eBay
knitted hat - mango
mustard tights - eBay
booties - janylyn

we spent about half an hour in the Church, and as we got out, i realized i actually lost my hat (don't ask me how). so i spent another 30 mins looking for it, but it was never found. sad.

a brief commercial

i'm cutting my paris pictures for now with some from the beach...

it was a company outing so i was with my colleagues and bosses. it turned out a lot better than i had expected, even though it was raining practically the whole weekend we were there. we played games nonstop and people ended up bruised or wounded or just passed out on the sand. one of our cameramen now needs a cast for his foot because he fractured it playing a relay game. haha.

anyway... i'm not a huge fan of the beach but coming up with outfits for the trip was soo much easier than, well, any other day. but i guess that's pretty much a given.

i've recently been having difficulty picking out decent outfits for work. everything i've worn in the last month has been rather dull and sad. i've been taking some outfit pics but i'm having second thoughts about posting them here.\=

anyway, more paris photos to follow soon!
and then some from rome. ♥

orange obsession

...is a phase i'm going through right now. it started just before i went to paris. i bought a bunch of orange stuff for the trip. then i had my nails painted an obnoxious shade of orange - which i loved. and to this day, everywhere i look, everything just seems to look better in that bright, citrusy color.

places visited: Basilique du Sacré-Cœur, musée de l'Armée

outfit: everything was thrifted, except for the tights which are from zara, and the scarf which i borrowed from mom.

p.s.
orange + grey = love.(:

still hungover

paris, being so gorgeous, provides a great setting for dressing-up. this is one of those outfits that i will just never get to wear here... so i love it to bits.

i want to go back!

dress and bag - thrifted
longsleeves and hat - local shops
blazer - vintage; eBay
scarf - mom's
ankle boots - janilyn

it's the hat, the hat

haven't you just always wanted to go to Paris (if you don't already live there, that is)? i think it's pretty much a given on your places-i-want-to-visit-before-i-die list. or maybe i'm just too assuming. hmm. haha.

anyway, i took a couple weeks off from work and went with my mom to le dream destination... and loved every second of it.

the only sort of "let down" was the lack of, er, stylish people around. don't get me wrong, Parisians are lovely dressers. really.(: but i guess i was expecting to see amazing, mind-blowing, oh-my-gosh-i-want-to-steal-that-look, outfits every couple of minutes, and i didn't really get that. the whole time i was just dying to see someone with an outfit worth taking a picture of (so i could try my hand at being the sartorialist-a)... but no such luck. i dunno, maybe i was looking in the wrong places.

in the end, i just settled for my own clothes; my own pictures. and i'm sorry to say that you'll have to settle for them, too.

woop.(:

(arrival at the Charles de Gaulle airport and cab ride to the hotel)

yellow coat - thrifted
scarf - girodano
knee-highs - from korea
boots - thrifted
hat (of love) - local store, i don't remember the name

i would never be able to wear this hat in Manila. makes me love Paris even more!

i'm thinking of coming back.

i know it's been forever, and this blog has been neglected beyond words. but i have missed it everyday. and now, more than ever, i am dying to come back.

not really sure if anyone would still get to read this - or if, in fact, anyone else cares to visit my site - but hopefully, i get the courage to hop back on the blogging train (whatever that means!). SOON.

much love,
bestie

P.S.
i just got back from paris. ♥

tagged by ana b. of on dressing up to list 11 favorite things. here goes.

1. clothes shop

zara and topshop are some of my faves, plus a couple more local brands. and of course nothing beats them good ol' thrift shops.

2. furniture shop

sadly i have no opinion on this, as i haven't bought any furniture for myself. but we usually just browse whatever furniture stores are in the malls...

3. sweets

anything made of dark chocolate (which is ironic, considering this is my favorite 'sweet'), cotton candy, and red velvet anything - especially cupcakes. yum-o.

4. city

quezon city, as it is where i have lived all my life. i also adore nyc, even though i've never been there. it probabaly explains why a huge chunk of my favorite movies and tv shows are new york-based.

5. drink

watermelon shake, piña colada, vanilla milkshake. slurp, slurp, slurp!

6. music

i'm actually not very picky with music choices. these are some of the bands i listen to on a regular basis, but really, i can stand most other genres.

7. TV show

if i were to list ALL my favorite TV shows... well, you'd be bored to tears. so here's a handful of them instead. friends, house, gossip girl and how i met your mother.

8. film

again, i'm not particularly picky with movies. i can enjoy almost all kinds (except for the ridiculously gory, though) and will probably list my favorites endlessly. i do, however, have a soft spot for animated films.

9. workout

does shopping count? hah. well, my work usually involves quite a bit of cardio, what about that? really. i can't tell you how many times i've run after a senator and away from an angry mob.

10. pastries

fruit tarts and blueberry cheesecake (although this may not be a kind of pastry... i'm not too sure).

11. coffee

anything from cbtl and most coffee frappuccinos from starbucks. their christmas edition toffee nut drink is my absolute fave.

since i don't know who else to tag... anyone who'd like to list their favorites, then please, feel free to do so - and let me know!

some bits and pieces:

+ to all manileños out there -- we're hiring! that is, the TV station i work for. we're in desperate need of new reporters. so if you've got mad journalistic skillz (or you know someone who does), feel free to e-mail me about the details. really, you don't even have to be a masscom major. the basic requirement is that you write well. *wink*

+ i stumbled upon the most adorable kitty video. it totally made my day.

+ even though i haven't been an active blogger for the last few weeks, i always seem to have time to watch these make-up tutorials by the incredibly talented lauren. she has mesmerizing eyes and a truly adorable accent. love love love!

+ i just won a f-a-b-u-l-o-u-s ARANAZ bag! i joined little miss dress up's their way your way contest and voila! instant gorgeousness added to my wardrobe. thank you to the little misses, hanna and rosanna!

+ i promise, my next posts will be fashion-related - and not spaced out a couple of weeks at a time!
